Life Lessons

My oldest is learning a lot these days. And I am not talking about just school here. She is learning a lot about being a teenager and herself and about trusting your own heart. So many "teen" issues have seemed to come up with her lately, normal stuff and nothing too out there. (I'd tell, but WOW would she want to kill me. LOL.) But through it all she has really made excellent choices. Listened to her heart and mind. Prayed and asked for guidance. I have been so proud of the mature way she has handled things and how she has not hidden behind crutches. She really has shown me what an amazing young lady and incredible PERSON she is becoming. I couldn't be more proud of her.

Plus today is her birthday!!! Woo hoo! Happy birthday to you...

So for this true and meaningful moment I am having as my baby is getting a whole year older, I have made this page with her in mind.

For this page I used the new American Crafts Amy Tangerine line. Wow, these colors really are just blowing me away. I love them.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my girl. I love you. You are truly incredible.

Thanks for stopping by!

Night of the Tornado

Our spring has been eventful so far this year. Not really all that surprising when it started in February - just a little early. Tornado season was in March! Well, there was one night that the storming was scary. We all spent two hours in the basement during a tornado warning. And we were so lucky because there was lots and lots of damage in the town right next to us! Anyway, for two hours we spent hiding out.

Baby Girl had no idea what was going on. Spending that time in the basement was a JOY for her! Why? Well, the two finished rooms in our basement are my studio and an office. We took down snacks and drinks. They had a TV to watch movies on, comfy chairs to sit in and the family all spending time together in a smaller space. She thought it was all fun and games! Good for her! Just mom and dad had to worry.

Well, of course I took pictures. And I had to scrapbook this happy/scary time.

I used the new American Crafts Amy Tangerine line for this page. It is so happy that I thought it really help portray HER mood on this night.

So now I am looking forward to calmer weather. Of course it is April now and it is colder this month than it was last. I am praying we do not have a SECOND tornado season!

Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

SRM Stickers and The Twinery

Yep, SRM Stickers and the Twinery have teamed up today for a fun, fun, FUN, blog hop! I have been so looking forward to this!!! I mean seriously, Twine, stickers, scrapbook pages??? What could be more fun! Anyway, if you haven't seen them all, go check out all the projects on the SRM Stickers blog. Can we say AMAZING!

Ok, I saw all the incredible colors of the twine and knew I needed to show as many colors as possible. What better way to show off a bunch of different colors, but a rainbow! I debated how to do the rainbow for awhile and here is what I came up with.

I love how these stickers can go right on a photo.

Anyway, this picture was from Easter. This girl was so excited about Easter this year! She gave up candy for Lent, so that was a long 40 days for a 5 year old. And Easter baskets FULL of candy was just what she wanted. In her Easter basket was also this adorably cute baseball hat. She put it right on and wore it for the rest of the day. She is awesome.

IF you would like some prizes, and who doesn't, make sure you head over to the SRM Stickers blog and the Twinery blog. BOTH are giving away an AMAZING prize pack. Woot woot!

Well, it is Friday, so I guess I will let you go for now. Thanks for stopping by!

The New Hambly Sketch!

It is time again for the newest Hambly sketch challenge! Check this sketch out!

I know, awesome, right? I love it.

Here is my take...

When I made this page, I was feeling really bad for my youngest. We had not been home for more than 40 minutes all day because we had to run - run - run her big sisters around. That is every day for her! They are older and involved in things and she gets to spend her time with me stuck in the car. Now she doesn't complain. She thinks this is normal. She's never known it any different. But still... Another reason for the mommy guilt.

Well, enough whining from me today. I hope you play along with us for the chance at the Hambly gift card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wedding Gifts

I am going to a wedding in a couple of weeks. It is the wedding of dear hubby's cousin. Our baby girl will be the flower girl (and can I tell you HOW MUCH she LOVES her dress?!?!?). Anyway... Not a lot to that story except it is leading me to the point that I have made some wedding gifts with the new Little Yellow Bicycle Swoon line.

Take a look...

In this is a journal...

A matchbook style notepad...

And 4 mini cards and two special paper wrapped pencils...

Now, I am not giving these to the bride and groom at the upcoming wedding, but that is because my girls have each taken their favorite pieces and I have no idea where they are now, but that is okay. But they were fun to make all the same!

Check out the Little Yellow Bicycle blog for more cool wedding gift ideas.

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy Wednesday!

Siblings and American Crafts

Last week on the American Crafts blog the theme was siblings. The good, the bad and the ugly, right? Well, just the good this time, but I am sure we have some not so nice stories about our siblings. I won't go into mine right now... LOL.

Anyway, I focused on my girls. I would love for them to be so super close all their lives. Call each other and hang out socially. Count on each other and truly "know" they will always have each other. I think that would be great. What parent doesn't want that? I will continue to pray...

I doodled - a new thing for me...

And layered - not so new for me...

But there is more! I also have a card to add to my card stash!

Who I can send this one too is a little more limited, but with three sisters of my own, I do have options.

That is all for today. Do you have siblings stories you can share?

Thanks for stopping by!

Heidi Swapp Memory File

I had the opportunity to play with the Heidi Swapp Memory Files recently. After looking at all the cool stuff I decided I needed to use them with a theme in mind. So I decided that a birthday theme was perfect for my files.

My birthday is the first one of year in my family and this year I turned 36. It was hard. I felt old. And I really wasn't so sure it was really a birthday I wanted to have. But I am past that now. Thank goodness. I am fine. I think my joints and such are not working as well as they did the day before my birthday but that could all be in my head. LOL.

But back to my memory file.

This is 36 @ 36...

In it are 36 pieces that I can see that make up me - today - at 36.

Some of it is really important, like my family.

And some of it is more light hearted, like my love of magazines, pop fiction and anything Apple.

And then some shows how much time I spend watching the girls.

But it is all a bunch of pieces of me today. I think it will be fun to look back on when I have enetered a new phase of my life. Like will white t-shirts, jeans and flip flops still be my favorite outfit when I am 64?

I was showing the fam this project and they are all into it. First Born is excited because her birthday is next. She has picked out her file and everything. So by the end of the year we will have a Memory File Box filled up with all of our birthdays from 2012. I definitely like this idea.

Happy Monday all and thanks for stopping by!

Using Swoon by Little Yellow Bicycle

Today my first Biker Chick project is up over on the Little Yellow Bicycle blog. It has been really fun for me to see all the projects with this collection. It is so pretty. Especially in real life. The papers are just gorgeous and the pictures do not do it justice. But still...

If you see my post over there, I did mention that even though the collection is beautiful, it really scared me to use it! I did not know what pictures I would use it with! My wedding was on the beach at sunset. Very casual. Not Swoon-ish. My 5 year old will be a flower girl in an upcoming wedding - not going to help me this week. So what was I going to do?

Make a page that was not a wedding page. Duh.

Like I said the papers are incredible. These photos aren't great - but the best I have. In real life, the delicate patterns are just awesome! I think you can see it better in some of the close ups.

So, for me, Swoon is a big winner. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, and remember - BLOG HOP ON SATURDAY!!!

Hambly Wall Art

I am in a remodeling mode. We have been in our house for almost 6 years now and we still have a lot of that original tan paint on the walls. The girls rooms have all been painted but in 6 years, they have changed styles and are ready for something new. I guess I am too.

So my youngest loves pink. Her room will be pink and white and have puff balls hanging from the ceiling over her bed. Above her head will be a collage of wall art in frames. And I think she needs a sparkly chandelier instead of the globe light. Very girlie and sweet.

This idea has just come together between us so we are just imagining it now, but I did start the wall art this weekend with a project I did for Hambly. The steps on how to make it are on the Hambly blog, but I definitely want to show it because it was so simple and came out so cute.

I have a couple of other frames for her room to work on. One will be filled with butterflies and she wants one to have a tree and flowers in it. Oh, I am excited to work on her room!

Thanks for stopping by!

Another layout using my JBS kit

So, I told you that I had finished two layouts with my new JBS kit. And so I am here to show you my second one.

I love this photo. I don't know what she was doing at the time but I love how her hair is crazy messy and her look of concentration. And I really love those freckles on her nose. They make me happy.

The journaling says, "She's my one who always wants to hold my hand and give me one more hug. She still wants to sit on my lap every morning and rock while she wakes up. She is the one that never imagines being away from me. Sure, she is only 5 but I'll keep this girl just as she is as LONG as I can."

I just love that she is not yet embarrassed to love me.

I found this rub-on in my stash and thought it worked so great!!!

Layers are so fun.

Anyway, that is my baby girl and my sappiness. Have a great Monday and thanks for stopping by!
