It is the last day but that is ok!

I was really sad when I did not have Sketchy Thursdays each week, but Diana joined up with ScrapFIT and I have been waiting for one of her sketches ever since reading the announcement! And in March, a Diana sketch was released! Woot woot! Today is the last day to get my take in. I just made it!

Here is the sketch...

And here is my take on it.

This sketch was so much fun to play with. It was like riding a bike after years. Awesome!

Pink Paislee - Clear Scraps Blog Hop!

This week on the Pink Paislee blog, we have doing a blog hop with Clear Scraps! Today is Day 4 of the hop and is my day to show what I played with.

I had never before used the Clear Scraps products. It was a lot of fun to play around with them and come up with a way to really use the clear acrylic pieces. Here is my project. I made a standing frame and used the acrylic piece as decorated glass.

With the cover...

Without the cover...

Some details...

It was fun!

Anyway, head on over to Pink Paislee and leave a comment. There is a SUPER prize!!!! Go HERE!

36

Today I am 36.

I was actually kind of freaking out about this birthday not too long ago. I mean, this means I am closer to 40 than to 30 and right now, 40 seems old. (Of course, I know it is not old, but bear with me.)

I remember when my mom turned 36! She had my baby sister that year. She was young and cool. All my friends though she was awesome. She was! I don't know if I am like that. I guess I could ask my oldest, but she is good at building me up, so she might just lie to make me happy. She is a good girl.

So instead of wallowing in "old-ness" I have a bunch of things that are making me happy today. Let me share.

Awesome things about turning 36 today...

This card. Thank you mom! (I love how her cut off finger is laying on her table.)

I found this magazine at Barnes & Nobles! Yay!!!

This girl. She is more excited about my birthday than anyone and keeps talking about my party. I wonder if I am having party hats!

Cupcakes.

My girlfriends, who I get to spend some time with today - even if it is sort of working.

I get to see this movie!!

And that is just 6 things! There is so, so much more. I guess turning 36 is truly good!

Have a great weekend all! I will.

New Sketch at Hambly!

Blog hop winner announcement is in the post below.

I love sketches!! And today it is time for the new Hambly sketch! Yay!! Cheers going on here. Ok, check out the sketch.

So fun, right!?!? I love sketches because it is amazing to see one starting point and then all the different takes. You can see everyone's take on the sketch on the Hambly blog.

Here is mine.

And some close ups...

I took these pictures the morning of the girls baptism. On the Tuesday before this, DD#2 came home from school and told me she needed to be baptized, asked why she hadn't been yet, needed it to happen asap in case something happened to her. I told her I would go schedule it. Then I asked Baby Girl if she wanted to get baptized too. She said, "Aren't I already?". I said no. She said, "Well, I guess we better fix that." I guess so. So when I dropped her off at preschool the next day, I stopped by the church office and they were able to schedule it for Sunday of that same week. Joy!

The grandparents came. There were roses. A beautiful and powerful and important ceremony. I was so proud of them.

Anyway, make sure you join in all the fun with the Hambly sketch! There is a prize!!!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

The funny things kids say

I love 5 year old kid talk. It is awesome. Actually, I love the way all younger kids talk. Not the fake baby talk stuff, but when they are really trying to converse and they just cannot get the correct pronunciation (or even the right word) out.

My 5 year old still has a few words in her ever growing vocabulary that don't come out just right. Her preschool teachers have been working on her over the last few years. She doesn't say "me do" instead of "I do" anymore, and she can say Chick-fil-A instead of Chicky-A now. But there are still a few that allude her. One is restaurant. It comes out reshshhrant. So cute! She even knows she is saying it wrong and tries to correct herself! Then there is any word that starts an "sw". Sweater is schweater. Sweet is schweet. And sweep is schweep. Another is butterfly. Imagine a lot of spit when she says budderphfffflishes. I guess I could correct her, and try to help her out, but she is growing up so fast that I just don't want to rush anything else.

So after talking with her, I decided I needed a page to remember this little 5 year old trait.

I know soon enough she will say these last few words correctly. But this, today, is something I need to remember.

All these butterflies (budderphfffflishes) were fussy cut from a Hambly overlay. (I embellished them with a little bling.) The hearts is from a piece of Hambly too!

Well, I am going to go hang with my girlie. She is watching me type this up. I am glad she cannot read it all yet so she doesn't try to delete my story.

Thanks for stopping by!

The coolest tags

How much have you dug into the new Dear Lizzy line from American Crafts? It is awesome! Well, while playing around with the different elements, I realized how much I LOVE the large tags! They are so great! Truly incredible colors and patterns. I decided they needed a page pretty much of their own.

I seriously need to order another package of these tags.

I think this girl is suffering from middle child syndrome right now. Sometimes I think she feels like nothing is going her way. Poor thing. So to deal with it, she sometimes tries out different personality traits to show she is bigger than just 8 and different than her sisters. I feel like that is what is going on right now with her. She doesn't get it that she can still just be a little girl, which is all I want her to be. There are moments when she just lets it go and is young and free and then she tries to hang on to some sort of power. It can be heartbreaking for me. She is just such an incredible girl. I hope she will see that soon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Easter SRM Stickers Layout

My second assignment with SRM Stickers was to create an Easter layout. Believe it or not, this was not super easy for me. We really do not do Easter egg hunts and I do not take my camera with me to church on Easter Sunday, so I did not know what picture or pictures to use. Well, then I realized that I did take a bunch of pictures of my youngest the day we bought her new Easter dress. So ta-da! Easter page! Well, an Easter dress page!

I used the SRM Stickers as part of the title and to describe all the things she looks forward to on or around Easter. Of course, her new dress is one of her favorite things.

And my favorite Martha Stewart punch gave me all the great heart confetti! Love it!

So do you scrapbook Easter every year? Honestly this is the first page I have ever done having anything to do with Easter. What types of pictures do you have? I'd love to get a new perspective on scrapping this holiday.

Have a great Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!

Sketch #3 from Sketchpad Class

It is time for my next layout based on Kelly Purkey's Sketchpad class. So far, this is my favorite one. Lot's of white space and lots of places for "things". Love it!

Here is my take...

It is the start of spring soccer season. So three days a week, well, two nights and one morning a week, I will be hanging out at the soccer fields.

I so LOVE this "i love" button!

For this page I used the March 2012 Studio Calico kit.

Enjoy your week!

Overlays and rub ons are just fun

I have loved rub ons since I first discovered them. And it makes me sad that so many companies are not making them or are phasing them out. Rub ons are one of my favorite parts of the layered look! And coupled with overlays (and clear stickers) rub ons are even higher on my "fun-ness" scale!

Last week, on the Hambly bog, I made a fun little embellishment out of overlays, rub ons, stickers, and Hambly paper. Layers and layers of unique materials really can decorate a page. Here is mine from last week.

Play around with those overlays. Play with those rub ons (I know you have some!). Enjoy this stuff! It is amazing!

Happy Monday! And thanks for stopping by!

My last week with Little Yellow Bicycle

Well, it had to end. My designing with Little Yellow Bicycle was only 4 weeks long and now it is time for my last project. This has been a super fun filled four weeks with the Saturdays collection. I was excited to see it at my Archivers today, so it is easy to get! I think I am going to go get another package of the clear cut shapes. Love those! Anyway, my last project...

I know. A double pager! I sort of wrote them off a while back, after a bad experience, but since I have figured out a way to do them. First, make then smaller than a 12X24 and second, make it so each side can stand alone.

I think it keeps things interesting to mix in some 8.5X11 inch layouts in my albums. The holes in the binders are the same distance apart, and we should be able to mix it up a bit if we want to, don't you think?

Here are some close ups...

So, that is all with me and the Saturdays collection. I loved, loved, LOVED it!! Seriously, you should go get some of these papers and embellies!!!

Thanks Little Yellow Bicycle for letting me ride with you all for a month! And thank you for stopping by!
