I like working with Hambly overlays like they were just more patterned paper. I think that it can be too easy for scrapbookers to get hung up about what to do with the overlays like they are supposed to be used a different way. But they are great for just layering with different papers, cardstock or patterned papers, and making something new!
On this page I used an whole overlay to create my background. It is a fun and EASY way to spruce up some plain cardstock for an interesting background.
With this one, I simply used the overlays as another layer. First the patterned paper, then a cool background Hambly rub on, then the overlay. Layers and different textures make it so interesting and fun.
I hope you feel more comfortable using up those overlays and transparencies you have in your stash. Let me know if you do use them! I would love to see your work!
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteThese are both gorgeous, Corrie! Love the overlay-on-overlay look, as well as the color palette of the banner rub-ons on the heart overlay!
