American Crafts and dreaming of warmer weather

It is freezing here today. Two days ago it was muggy and warm. It was about two weeks ago, I had to turn on the A/C it got so warm. And today, I feel like an icicle. So I am of course dreaming of warmer weather, preferably with sand and waves.

My dreaming lead me to the summer's beach pictures. Even though my mind is headed towards Christmas, the ocean lover in me always craves the beach.

Bright, cheerful and it looks warm!!!

Thanks, American Crafts for providing basically EVERYTHING on this page. I just had to add in two washi tapes (small pieces).

Gratitude for Today - November 29th

I am grateful today for a working heater, both in my house and in my car. Brrrrrr.....

Big Hambly Black Friday Sale!!!

You shopping in Black Friday? You need a reason to buy something for yourself maybe? How about some Hambly!!! Check this out!

Have fun shopping!!

The truth about my girls

Even though they may say they hate the camera. Hate their pictures being taken. Hate how I won't leave the house without the camera for fear I will miss something picture worthy. I know they are all full of baloney! How do I know??? While editing pictures I realized in their hatred of pictures, they are all trying to be super models!

Check them out!

They all have perfected their posing, their smiles, their good sides. They don't blink at the wrong time. They work it well. LOL. I know, they really are want to have their pictures taken all the time. (Who am I kidding, they do!)

These girls are camera trained. I don't know if they will be stunning enough, tall enough, or skinny enough (by the media's standards) to actually be models one day. And actually I really hope they will be doctors or teachers or do-gooders one day instead. But these three are gorgeous to me and as far as I am concerned they already are super models!

Gratitude for Today - November 23, 2011

I am grateful for my trusty car, which gets us from place to place. Which is big enough for the entire family and some stuff and maybe a friend. Which isn't fancy but is safe and reliable. I love that it has a zillion miles on it from the road trips we have taken together. I was not originally sold on my new image when I started driving it, but I am sure thankful for it now.

Lots of pink

What do you get when you have a little girl and a big girl who are sweet and nice and fun? Pink! Yep, that is what I get at least!!

This little girl just LOVES this big girl. They are cousins and the little girl just stuck to this big girl like glue. A whole week together and the little girl was in heaven.

Gratitude for Today - November 22, 2011

I am grateful for books. I love to read. I love that my kids love to read or be read to. Who needs TV, when there are so many incredible books out there?!?

Aren't little girls in tutus the cutest things ever!!! Here are a couple of pages I did for SNR over the summer with a sweet little ballerina. She is just so cute!

I am so happy that she is in ballet again this year. I am not ready to give up the pink tutus for hip hop and jazz shoes. This is too sweet!

Gratitude for Today - November 20th, 2011

I am grateful for laughter. What a boring life we would lead day to day if we couldn't laugh and ourselves or at a good joke. Laughing relives stress and just makes you feel good. I love those laughing fits that come from deep down inside and make your whole body shake! They are the best.

Sketchy Thursdays 11.17

Wow, there has been so much going on this week! And now it is Thursday! That means a new sketch from Sketchy Thursdays! Here is the sketch...

I had the chance to crop with a good friend over the weekend and I worked on this page. I already had the pictures printed and waiting, so it just came together so fast.

Here is my take...

Thirteen year old girls are interesting creatures. They are still young and want to be young and then they are fighting for their independence and want nothing to do with you. This one is all of that. She is a great person though, with a great heart, and I can see the amazing potential brewing inside of her.

Thanks for stopping by! Now head on back to Sketchy Thursdays and get those pages loaded for a chance at the prize! As an added bonus, you will have TWO weeks to work on this one. We are shutting down for Thanksgiving and TWO winners will be drawn for the next reveal on December 1st.

Gratitude for Today - November 17th, 2011

I am grateful today that vacation starts tomorrow. The anticipation alone is enough now to make me smile. After this awful week, I am ready for the break.

New Gratitude Cards

This week's gratitude cards are fun and bright! Probably because of the great news from yesterday and having time off for Thanksgiving, I am wanting to spread some cheer! Or maybe because other than the great news yesterday and the upcoming time off, I have been feeling low, so these cards are my attempt to change my own attitude. Either way, they are fun and happy and it is just what I need.

How are you keeping up with your gratitude this month?

Gratitude for Today - November 16th, 2011

I am grateful for my mom. I know she "has" to put up with me because she is my mom and all, but I really think she would do it anyway. (Wouldn't you???) Anyway, she is an incredible friend and confidant and I love her very much.

Christmas Decor with Shimelle!

Forever ago, I bought this cool old window from a funky art store. I planned on making a window for my studio with this with a light and curtains and a painted sky. Well, that never actually happened. The window sat and sat and more than once almost was broken by a kid and a fast moving rocking chair.

About two months ago though I got an idea for a decor piece with it with tags and pictures and other fun stuff. I sketched it out thought about it a lot but still never got to it. Then Shimelle asked for a Christmas project for her Christmas Crafting Weekend and BAM! here was the reason for make my window!!

Here is my Christmas window.

It was so fun to make!! And now I have my first Christmas decoration of the season up! Normally, I hang a holly wreath above my fireplace, but when the family saw the window up there, they all voted and want to keep it up there instead of the wreath this year. That really made my day!

You want to learn how to make this? Well, there is a step by step tutorial up over at Shimelle's. There is a fun challenge and a chance at a shopping gift card!!! Plus, there are a TON of other great Christmas tutorials and inspiring things to try. So I hope you will try some things out and please leave a link for me so I can check out your fabulous Christmas projects!! I would LOVE to see them.

Gratitude for Today - November 13th, 2011

I am grateful for coffee. It is one of my favorite drinks. It smells so good and is hot and comforting. Oh mornings would not be the same without that incredible drink!

Sketchy Thursdays 11.10

New sketch! New sketch!! Yay!

Check this one out...

And here is my take...

This girl was taught how to make these hand heart things at school. Oh my goodness, it is so cool. She makes them all the time for people. Just sharing her love for others. It's pretty cute.

Gratitude for Today - November 10th, 2011

I am grateful for time. Time to create. Time to live. Time to enjoy what is happening. There are days when I feel like there is not enough time, but when I do catch my breath from the endless stream of doing, I am also grateful for the rushed time. Thank you God for each and every day.

Oh, and a very happy birthday to my sister!!! Happy Birthday, girl! I hope your year is fabulous!

Week 2 Gratitude Cards

I am behind!! With all the weekend activities, I am still struggling to catch up! Plus, I'm tired. But I have been keeping up with my gratitude project each day. And today I have this week's gratitude cards to show you!

Last week, I used Becky Higgins graph paper journaling cards as my base. This week, I just picked a random kit I had in my kit basket and used that as the base. This was an old Sweet Peach kit. Even though the cards will not all match from week to week, at least they sort of will during the week! And since it is all going in my Project Life this month, I am not so concerned with what all matches perfectly, you know what I mean?? Life just isn't always matchy-matchy.

Gratitude for today - November 8th, 2011

Today, I am SO grateful for a day mostly at home. I did not even move my car until 2:20 when I had to leave to watch DD#2 run in a cross country race. Baby Girl had a friend come over because they did not have school and we all had a good time hanging here. I loved the time away from the car and the road and the go, go, go. I was wonderful!

Do you want to be our Guest?

Over at Sketchy Thursdays, I mean? It is time for the December guest designer challenge over there and you sure should go out for it!

Here is the sketch...

Sketchy Thursdays is teaming up with Tessa at Perfectly Precocious for the Attitude of Gratitude. So not only do you need to use the sketch, but also scrapbook something you are grateful for! It is so cool! I am participating in the month of Attitude of Gratitude and it is not too late for you too also!

It is so cool that some of us DT members played along too. Here is my take on the sketch.

And my Gratitude for Today - November 4th, 2011

I am grateful for each and every day I get with this girl. She could have gone on to kindergarden this year, but after much debate, thought and prayer, we decided to send her to a 5 year old preschool instead. (We call it half day kindergarden.) She goes 5 days a week, learns to read and does math and science projects, but she is only gone until 1. We still get our afternoons without her sisters and she is not picking up any habits, words, or experiences yet from older kids, except her sisters. I like it. She gets to stay little for an extra year, and I am so grateful for that. She is fun and sweet and we always have a great time together.

Gratitude Cards - American Crafts

Yesterday over on the American Crafts blog, I had a trio of gratitude cards posted. I am not a huge card maker. Actually I can count how many cards I have made in total on less than two hands. It is true! They just seem so formal and formal is just so not me. But still, I made three cards, and I loved them! Take a look!

I had a blast making these. It was kind of like three little scenes to me. All the new American Craft lines are on these cards except Christmas. I am using Christmas stuff now. (I needed to break out the Christmas music for that.)

In the spirit of gratitude cards...

Gratitude for Today - November 4th, 2011

I am grateful today for my inlaws. They are always so giving with their time and are always willing to help us out with our girls. They live three hours away and still they will come out every weekend if we have need them. They are so awesome and I cannot thank them enough for the tireless help they give us.

Sketchy Thursdays 11.3

It is that time of the week again! Time for the new Sketchy Thursdays sketch! Woo hoo! Now that we are in the home stretch to the holidays, I am sure it will be more difficult to find time to scrapbook, but you know what, it is worth the effort. What better way is there to relax and take time for yourself! And this sketch will definitely help get those scrapbooking juices going!

I love all the elements in this sketch. Now, I struggle with circles. (I don't really know why, but I do.) So I swapped those out with some hearts and thread and stuff. Here is my take.

Close up...

I was really excited about the mist on this page. The October Afternoon Sprinklers like to get clogged up and with more then one, I have impatiently "tried" to fix it and have ended up blowing the tube right out of the spritzer part. Not real smart on my part. Well, this one I used was clogged and amazingly, I did get it to work without messing it up! Yay!

Anyway, you all need to head over to Sketchy Thursdays and get those pages loaded!!! Have a great time creating!

Gratitude for Today - November 3rd

I am so, so, so grateful for Wednesday night dinners at my church. The ladies that cook are so dedicated and the meals are always delicious. This is a glorious hour with some of my best friends while our kiddos are all in choir. This week, my group helped serve dinner, giving the "chef" the night off to eat with her family. It was exactly what I needed. It is so cool how He gives us exactly what we need, when we need it!

Attitude of Gratitude - day 2

Gratitude for Today - November 2nd

I am so, so grateful for the time I get to spend with my "leadership" ladies. They are all so amazing and fun! It seems like we have a meeting exactly when I NEED it. The fellowship time really recharges my batteries and the ministry itself helps to recharge my heart. Thank you ladies!!

And just because I thought this was funny... (while out shopping)

Attitude of Gratitude

It is November 1st, and Tessa from Perfectly Precocious, has returned this year with her Attitude of Gratitude. Personally, I think this is the perfect challenge to kick off the holiday season! It is so easy to get caught up in this or that and we forget that we need to be grateful each and every day for the big things and the small things.

I have a lot going on with kiddos and church commitments and my hubby who likes some attention too, so I must be realistic with myself about what I can pull together. I know a mini album will not get completed and a LO a day is too much. But I do want a way to journal my Attitude of Gratitude someplace, besides here. So here is what I have decided.

Project Life will be the way.

I am just gearing up for my 2012 to be the year of Project Life, but with the festivities, I might as well start building some habits now right? So this is how the two will work together. My PL pages that I am working on for November will each have a card. See week one...

These little journaling cards will fit right into the center row in the PL page protectors. I have numbered each one with the day to record my gratitude for the day! I am feeling like a genius right now! LOL. Yeah, easy system, but the simpler the system, the more likely that I will actually do it.

But in all seriousness, I hope you will join in! Tessa is giving away an Attitude of Gratitude kit (oh yeah)! And who wouldn't like that?!?

Gratitude for Today - November 1st

Today I am incredibly grateful for my bff Melissa. She's always there to talk. She puts up with my flakiness, my whining, my kids, my ADD, and all the other stuff about me that I wish I could magically change. She is a great friend and I am grateful she is mine.
