Very Kissable - A tried and true design

While going through layouts I found this one that was in the August 2011 issue of Scrapbook News and Review. The call was for using metal rimmed tags on a layout as part of their Scrap Your Stash series.

What I found sharable about this page was the tried and true design of it. Obviously, the big grid works for me! LOL. Sometimes, in scrapbooking, or anything, it is okay to not reinvented the wheel.

Happy Halloween!

Sketchy Thursdays 10.27

Banners are a lot of fun, so when I saw this week's sketch from Sketchy Thursdays, I was very excited to get started!

Banners can be made out of just about anything. Patterned paper, chipboard, stickers, punched out shapes or ribbon. One of my favorite items right now is washi tape, and yep, washi tape can make banners too! Check this out!

Washi tape + banners = happy!!

Here is my entire layout.

This girl really is always happy. She wakes up smiling in the morning. Every day at school is "awesome". All of her friends are besties. She tells me she loves me 400 times a day and not just because she wants something. Her heart is just happy. Just knowing this about her truly makes me happy too. What a great way to be.

Well, make sure you head on over to Sketchy Thursdays and link up your project using this week's sketch! You will glad that you did!

Thanks for stopping by!

Retro with American Crafts

I am loving all things retro and vintage. Not only are both of those words just cool, but the images those words create in my head make me happy! So while on a photo expedition with my family one Saturday, when my daughter found this awesome Brownie all I could do is smile. Old cameras are the coolest of the retro/vintage finds!

I could decorate my entire studio space with these little gems!

Then to make it even better, was pairing this up with the new American Crafts lines! Well, mostly Chap, but a little Amy Tangerine and Garden Cafe. The Chap colors seemed especially perfect for the whole retro feel.

Everything on this page is American Crafts. They have so many great bits and pieces and I just wanted to use them all!

Sketchy Thursdays 10.20

Happy Thursday! Another Thursday means another sketch! Yay!

There is a lot of journaling on this one. Not really my thing. The journaling seems so personal to me and although I really have been trying to put some on my pages, it is not very much. I knew I did not actually HAVE to put that much journaling on my page, but then I got an idea... And you know what happens when you get an idea... You simply MUST go for it!

Here is my page.

I wanted to take the girls out for a photo shoot the last time we went to my inlaws for the weekend. There are so many great places for pictures out by them that we just do not have access to here. Great textured walls, beautiful scenery, fun rusty chairs. But they love being out there because they get to run and play and not worry about a car hitting them. So for me to get them to go along with the shoot for awhile, I offered them a bribe. Yep. If they could hang in there for an hour or two, each of them got ten dollars to spend as they liked. Plus, I had snacks and candy for along the way. They put up with a lot during the shoot, but they all were really fun and I think they had fun too. Plus, I got some incredible shots. Then the rest of the time they got to spend running and getting dirty. It was a great weekend for all!

Well, head on back to Sketchy Thursdays and link up those layouts! You know you want to play along with us!

Thanks for stopping by!

A Very Special Party (and a giveaway!!)

Who loves pretty patterned paper?? ME!!

Who loves to look at, touch, admire, drool over, organize, cut up, (or not cut up because it is too pretty) pretty patterned paper? I DO!!!

Who has more stash then you will use in the forseeable future (or ever)? Uh, doesn't everyone? Hee hee!

Well, if you agree with me on any of these, there is a special party you simply MUST attend!

Do you know Shimelle? You probably do, but in case not, Shimelle is an incredible scrapbooker who has been teaching online classes for years! Her classes are fun and informative and she has a great forum to keep everyone chatting together! I took her Learn Something New class two Septembers ago and it was FAB!!

She has decided though to kick it up a bit and instead of just an online class, she is hosting a 4 week long online party and you are invited!!! The Pretty Paper Party is the party to attend if you have a collection of paper stacked, stored, in bags, in boxes, shoved under the bed or proudly displayed around your house! If you keep all those scraps and never want to throw them away, this is the party for you! Or if you are just not wanting to cut up that pretty paper because it is well, just too pretty, you need to be at this party!

Through printable prompts and tutorial videos, Shimelle and dozens of special party guests will share beautiful and innovative techniques you can achieve with the paper you have already collected.

And guess what... I am one of the special party guests!!! Yay!!! I am so excited!! What will I be doing? Well, I am not going to tell you that, you have to come to the party to find out. But here is a little sneak...

Now the giveaway! Wouldn't you LOVE to come to this Pretty Paper Party over at Shimelle's?? Well, I get to give away a seat to this special event. Yay!! All you have to do is leave me a comment in this post by Thursday, October 20th at 1:00 PM EST telling me you want to attend and I will draw one random winner for access to the party!! If you want to double your chances, I will enter your name TWICE if you tell me something about you favorite sheet (or line) of pretty paper! It is just so easy!!

Now the party officially starts today, but that is ok. It is always ok to be fashionably late to a party. Besides Shimelle is great and you will get forever access to this special event!! Awesomeness!

And do not worry if you have already registered for the party. Shimelle will credit you back the cost of the class or you can share it with a friend! You just can't lose!

See you all there!!

Sketchy Thursdays 10.13

How has your week been so far? Well, honestly, mine has been pretty calm, which is a nice change honestly. With three kids, I can really keep things on the road, you know what I mean? But I always like to keep time for the weekly Sketchy Thursdays sketch. Take a look...

I know, it is cool, isn't it.

Okay, here is my take...

And some close ups...

I went with Crate Paper on this one. I had bought all the embellies for the Random line and then forgot about them! Yikes! I found them in the corner of the room still in the Archiver's bag! I guess I was really pulled to them this day since I found out about American Crafts buying them. Two of my favorite companies under one roof, what could be better!

Anyway, I hope you do play along this week. Remember to link up your projects by October 19th for the chance at the prize!!!

Sketchy Thursdays 10.6

It is the first day of the new design team over at Sketchy Thursdays!! Did you see all the amazing DT work? Incredible!

Here is the new sketch...

It has so many fun elements, don't you think?

And here is my take...

And some close ups...

I finally got my new camera on Sunday. It is so wonderful. So on Monday, baby girl and I went to the park to play and I had to just get a couple of shots of her with the new equipment! It focuses fast enough to actually keep this girl in focus, even though she is in CONSTANT motion! Joy for Mom!!

Anyway, make sure you play along with us!! You know you want to!

And thanks for stopping by!

American Crafts Fun!

I got the chance for some scrappy time with a couple of my girlies this weekend (it was so needed) and I worked on a fun American Crafts project.

I took this picture and after doing some edits I really was blown away by how beautiful her eyes are. They just totally pulled me in!

I did not have a real story to tell with this photo, but those eyes just kept speaking! I had an idea for the page design but what was I going to say about this photo was what was hard for me. Then I remembered how she asked me over the summer if she could get colored contacts. She wanted purple eyes. I said no. This picture reminds me why I said no, besides the ridiculous cost.

I hope you had a good Monday, now on to Tuesday!!

A fun Sunday

We have a Mystery Trip planned for the girls today. Dear hubby loves having Mystery Trips. The first one we took was MT2K aka Mystery Trip 2000 because it took place in the year 2000. We went to the beach (our first trip) with a bunch of friends. He planned the whole thing and was the only person who knew where we all were going. Very fun. We have gone to Disney World twice. We have gone apple picking, to a chicken farm (a more educational mystery trip) and to the fair. I love it and we always have a great time.

My kids are funny about it though. One LOVES these trips and the whole surprise thing. One loves them, but guesses the WHOLE time where we are going and is really relentless about it. The third one hates surprises and pretty much tries to be as miserable as possible. Sometimes so much that she is miserable for part of the time once she is there. Funny how they can all be so different.

This one tonight has been in the works for MONTHS! And dear hubby is so excited about it that I really don't know how he is containing himself! LOL.

On another note, I wanted to show you a page and a couple of photos. Here is my not so always mellow youngest. She is fun, funny, witty and full of life, but impatient and a little bossy and a little bit into the melt downs still. Will they ever end???

I did this page for the Scrapbook News and Review color of the month for August. I did not realize I had as much yellow paper as I did until I made this page!

And then I just want to share these two photos too. They are not the best quality, but WOW, I think the sun reflecting in is so COOL!!! I know, random, but when I downloaded these into my computer I just really felt the need to share!!!

Anyway, I hope you are having a fabulous weekend! I will be back to tell you all about the Mystery Trip and the reactions of the three girlies. Thank goodness there is no school tomorrow!

Bye!
