An American Crafts page and a 100th post!!!

Yeppers, this is my 100th post! It may not seem like all that much, but wow has a lot happened since I decided to start this blog. Sketchy Thursdays and American Crafts and all sorts of new internet friends. It has been so much fun!

And I think it is pretty cool that my 100th post is showing off another page I have done using the new American Crafts products.

This is my beach buddy. She loves the beach as much as I do and she asks me all the time when do we get to move to the beach. We agree, we should go right now and never come so far inland ever again. She is even ready to start school out there. The sooner the better. The rest of the family isn't as ready as the two of us. Dear hubby keeps claiming that whole job thing is too important. The other girls are all worried about friends and finishing the school year. Baby girl and I are ready!

For this page I mixed Amy Tangerine, Garden Cafe and Nightfall, but it really is mostly Nightfall. Who would have thought the fall papers would be so perfect for a beach page! The colors are just so pretty! (The only things not AC is the mini alpha letters and the heart doily.)

Well, thanks for stopping by and taking a look! And wish me and baby girl luck in convincing the other to blow this joint!

Sketchy Thursdays 9.22

The new sketch is here!

And here is my take...

This was one of those pages that had a hard time coming together for me. The color seemed off. I messed up the journaling and ended up covering it up with a tag. I was called 17 thousand times my my youngest. It felt a little pieced together instead of flowing. We all have days like that right? But still, I like it. It all goes together with the grainy iPhone pic. Cool.

So, head over to Sketchy Thursdays, check out the prize and get those pages posted for a chance to win!!!!

Elle's Studio 9.15 sketch

I have not had a chance to play along for awhile with Elle's Studio, but I decided I was gonna do it this week. Besides I bought a bunch of their tags during the moving sale a few weeks ago and I was wanted to use some!

If you want to see the sketch and their DT inspiration, you can see it here. Otherwise here is my take.

This little girl is something else, I tell you what. She is in school 5 days a week this year and although they are still just half days, I miss her being around me more. She wants to be at school. She is ready to learn all the time. But I miss her. I am looking forward to tomorrow 'cause the two of us are hitting the stores for a little retail therapy! Baby needs some new shoes! (And maybe a cute new dress. Hee hee.)

Thanks for stopping by!

American Crafts Blog Hop

Happy Day everyone! What a fun weekend!!! And welcome to the American Crafts blog hop! Woot Woot! Party!!! You are here from Cindy Tobey's blog and I am so EXCITED that you stopped by!!!

We were challenged to use all of the new American Crafts lines on a single page to show how incredibly perfectly they all can work together! All of these lines!!!

Here is what I came up with...

The heart was so fun to make. I just hand cut a large heart out of cardstock and covered it with strips of patterned paper. Once it was all finished being covered, I carefully trimmed the excess from the center of the heart and then machine stitched it to 12x12 cardstock. My photos fit inside the heart and I embellished places with brads, flair, trim, buttons and a tag. Lastly, I punched small hearts and glued them to the cardstock in more random places, like ink splatters would be. And voila! It is finished!

I took these pictures on my baby's 5 year old photo shoot in August. She had a lot of fun walking around with me finding cool locations. And how could we pass up a big green wall with a 5 painted right on it?!?! It was perfect!

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, fabric paper, stitched paper, tape, flair, buttons, brads, trim, tags, foam letters, rub ons: American Crafts; Punches: EK Success, Martha Stewart; Sewing Machine: Singer; Thread: Other

For a chance to win some coolio letter stickers (I really love letter stickers):

leave a shout out here by Wednesday, September 21st by 1:00 PM EST and I will randomly draw one winner! Fun!

But now you need to head on over to Heidi Sonboul's blog and check out her goodies!

Make sure you stop by all 20 designers blogs and leave a comment, and then head back to the AC blog and leave a comment for your chance to win TWO ENTIRE LINES!!!! What could be better!!

Have a fun time hopping!!

Sketchy Thursdays 9.15

This is a BIG week!!! Can you say prizes??? Yes, like as in MORE THAN ONE!! Woot woot!! So, I know you love Sketchy Thursdays, but there is so much more than that this week!!

This week we are partnering up with ScrapFit. I love Sara and Missy over there. Awesome ladies. But we have a sketch and they have a prompt and together we have serious awesomeness!!!

So here is the Sketchy Thursday sketch...

So fun, right with the rays and all.

The prompt from ScrapFit:

#52- F Is For Friendship: Friends are the family members we pick out by hand. Let's dedicate this week's layout to a special friend(s). Show us who you hang out with or call when you need to vent!

What did I do? Well, here it is...

Yep, when I think friends, I first think of dear hubby. I am not trying to be cliche or lame-o or sappy. We are not connected at the hip. We are not co-dependent. We are capable of being apart. But I will say with certainty that he is my best, best friend. I want to tell him both the most exciting news and the worst news before I want to tell anyone else. He knows me better than anyone. And we truly enjoy being together. Sure we are not always nice to each other and we do disagree at times, but the best part is that we have figured out how to get through those not so great moments stronger and happier than before. I really could not ask for a better, truer friend.

Ok, enough of that talk. I am sure you want to know about the prizes, right?

Well, Burlap & Buttercups kit club is providing an awesome kit to one lucky winner. And then Diana's Etsy shop is donating a $10 gift card as well!!! Can you believe it?? Plus on top of that, you can head over to ScrapFit and see what their prize is too. So many chances to win!!!!

So I do hope you will play along with us at Sketchy Thursdays this week. Tell your friends and neighbors. It will be fun!

The Real Story

I love to take pictures of my girls. I take them every chance I get and even a lot that I force on them. Our annual beach trip is one place that I really push the issue of photos. The beach is my favorite place to be and they are my favorite people to be there with (along with dear hubby), so in the spirit of that year's Christmas card, I ALWAYS have a beach photo shoot. I take 300+ pictures of them in matching/coordinating outfits, which used to be all white dresses but I have loosened up that requirement. I get the perfect shot for my cards and the vacation is wonderful. Easy! (For me at least.)

They get annoyed. They don't really like it. And here is the truth about mom's forced beach photo shoots.

Yep. They were over it, big time.

But that was three trips ago. Two trips ago I did not get as much whiney annoyance. Instead, I got a bunch of photos of them doing their own thing and basically ignoring me! They grew up over the year and learned this new trick.

Well, this summer was something new all together. This summer was the photo shoot of craziness. They had great attitudes, lots of fun and they did the opposite of what I wanted pretty much the whole time! Their favorite pose was sticking their tongues out at me! I got a million of those! What do you think, should I use this on my Christmas card this year??

Probably not.

The girls think I should just give up the shoots. But then when would they have the opportunity to make me a little more crazy? Plus, even with their antics, complaints, crazy eyes and general "overness" they are with my forced photo shoots, these are all moments I want to keep too. So I guess I'll keep shooting.

Thanks for stopping by.

First American Crafts Project

So I was having a nuts-o day yesterday and had worked myself into such a tizzy (because of my overactive imagination) that I felt like I was having mental breakdown. Yeah, not fun. I was definitely the crazy yesterday. But then I decided to check out the newest project from whichever new American Crafts design team gal was being spotlighted. I headed over to the American Crafts Studio blog and what did I find??? ME! Total surprise because I had no idea when it was going up. But so cool!!!

So my first project is a recipe book made withe the gorgeous Garden Cafe papers. I love this line. Seriously, I wish it was bigger, because the colors are so rich and beautiful Here is my book...

This little book was really inspired by the oldest daughter. She wants to cook all the time. Really baking is her thing, but she is getting more and more into cooking with me, which is fun. So these are our favorite family recipes, with a few tips from me, that she can have. Granted she is still young, so it is not like she will be moving out any time soon, but still, she is a pack rat, so I am sure she have this for years.

Thanks for stopping by!

9.1 Sketchy Thursdays

Today is Thursday, which means it is time for a new sketch! Here is it...

I have a story about my page.

I always say that my hubby is my best friend. And I know everyone says this, right? Well, I am telling the absolute truth in that he really is my bestie. We just have fun together! And I love that! Once when we were early on married, he sent me a song via email and said it was his song to me. It was You're My Best Friend by Tim McGraw. See... It is true!

Well, I was having a really bad day on Monday. It started bad. Then I had to drive and hour+ to do some work at a client's office (day job) and because of the bad morning, I was late and grumpy. The work was fine and all and I ended up being taken to lunch. I walked out to my car and saw a piece of paper under my windshield wiper. I figured my car had been hit and it was a note from the other guy. I was about to groan in Monday agony. When I picked it up though, it was actually a note from my dear hubby, just to say he loved me.

How my day got better quickly!

So then it was time to scrapbook and he HAD to be my subject!

I tried to make it manly with the grey, but I can't really ever get away from pink. LOL.

He doesn't know I made this page, he has been working killer hours. But the girls will force him to look through the albums I have someday and he will see it and he will remember the song, and us.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! And make sure you play with us at Sketchy Thursdays!!
